Gabra (Chukurovo) Monastery "St. Dimitar"
The Gabra monastery is located in the Vakarel mountain, the Ihtiman Sredna gora. It is about 2 km to the south-east of the village of Gabra (the village of Chukurovo by 1934).The time of its foundation is not known. In 1867 it was restored and has been periodically functioning till nowadays.
Patron Saint's day on 26 October.History
The monastery church is well preserved. It is one-nef, one-apse, built in 1867 and wall painted in 1869.
Transport
A third class road starts from the monastery to the A1 (E80) motorway (about 8 km) and by this the monastery is connected to Sofia (about 30 km to the northwest) and the town of Ihtiman (about 28 km to the south-east).
